Seed Pods 2

Seed pods Seed Pods 2

My daughter has been fascinated by the bulbous growths that have formed as the on the daffodils as the flowers died. Are they seed pods or do they have another purpose?

I, too, believe they are seed pods, though I can’t think of a time that I opened the bulge to see.

    Hi, Lauren–
They’re definitely seed pods, but fairly unusual to see in daffodils! I’d snip them off to encourage more resources to the bulbs, but it’s up to you. Your daughter (and you) might enjoy trying to plant some of the seeds after the pods mature (they’ll be brown and dry).

    Best,
    Lisa

      Thanks Lisa,
I’ll try snipping them, but this year it may be too late. Perhaps I’ll wait until they are dry this year and spread some seed to see what grows next spring. Lauren
