Beefsteak Wins the Tomato Derby by a Mile

May 13, 2009

Second Tomato First Tomato!
I wrote the other day about the blossoms on my tomato plants. We have had a lot of rain in the mean time and so I went out this morning to check the garden and discovered two tomatoes growing on the Beefsteak plant. There are a lot of blossoms on that plant so I anticipate having at least a few Beefsteak tomatos. Some of the blossoms on the German Queen plant seem to have died. I assume that all the moisture had something to do with that, but will have to do some research. The Marion plants are looking good as are the Cherokee Ros plants. The Brandywine plants appear to be late bloomers. The plants are small and spindly compared to the others. Time will tell how they fare. Who won the Tomato Derby in your garden?
