New Blossoms in the Carolina Victory Garden

March 30, 2010

Here are a few more flowers blooming in the Carolina Victory Garden…The white daffodils are now blooming. Their blossoms are so heavy that they droop so it took a little doing to get a photo of the blossoms.

This lovely yellow or golden bush is also blooming. My dad used to call it a goldenrod, but I don’t think that is really its name. Perhaps someone can enlighten me?

Certainly can see why your dad would call it goldenrod. It is a Forsythia. A true harbinger of spring….along with the daffodils.

Lovely pictures. In our family, those were known as “yellow bells,” for some reason. But it’s definitely a forsythia, great for forcing into bloom if the winter drags on and you need some color in the house (like a month ago). Isn’t spring wonderful?
